Hi, I'm Ms. Anderson. Welcome to our Classroom Community. I am very excited to be leading this amazing group of 3rd-5th grade boys this school year. This school year is my 4th year of teaching. I am originally from Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before I became a teacher I worked for many years doing therapeutic recreation. I enjoy combining those experiences with educational strategies to bring hands-on, active learning activities into my classroom. In my free time I like to garden, cook, sew and explore nature and the world around me.

Our Classroom Community Experience Includes...
Playing a Positive Role in Our ClassroomEveryday we learn to handle our emotions positively, resolve conflicts peacefully and make responsible decisions. We pick a 'Star Student' everyday to help Ms. Anderson lead our class. At the end of the day we participate in a compliment circle where we offer the Star Student compliments that reflect on positive school behavior and build social skills.

Participating in the School GardenWe love to learn about nature and get our hands dirty in the school garden. The above photo shows current students in my classroom last year observing our indoor learning garden that we started from seeds. Later we moved our seedlings to our outdoor learning garden. This fall we get to watch our plants mature and get ready to harvest our herbs and vegetables.

Completeing Hands-on Learning ExperiencesWe are an active classroom and we love expressing our creativity. We also love all things superhero! The above picture is an original design made by a student using pattern blocks during our math centers. Students in my classroom frequently complete projects that allow for student-centered learning experiences and active engagement. We love utilizing our creative problem solving skills!
This school year we hope to obtain funding to add Lego WeDo robotics kits to our classroom. |
