Every Tuesday for the rest of the school year we will be holding "Tinkering Tuesday" in room 221. Each week will focus on one central theme and we will build and explore elements to help us learn more about our theme.
March 1, we kicked off our first Tinkering Tuesday. We have been learning about landforms and decided to dive deeper into learning about volcanos and household chemical reactions.
March 1, we kicked off our first Tinkering Tuesday. We have been learning about landforms and decided to dive deeper into learning about volcanos and household chemical reactions.
Students spent the first part of the morning learning about volcanoes. Then they made their volcanoes out of tinfoil, plastic cups and paper plates. After building, they spent some time experimenting with different household chemical combinations (like vinegar, lemon juice, baking soda, salt, dish soap, etc.) to figure out the best way to make their volcano erupt. Finally, at the end of the day each student got up before the class to present their volcano and demonstrate how they mixed their ingredients to make the volcano erupt.
Please join us every week to see what we have created on Tinkering Tuesday. We will try to get a post up every week!
